Cardiovascular Health Action Network (RASC)
A feature-length documentary advancing the culture of prevention
For over two decades, Dr. Julie St-Pierre and her team have been working to transform preventive health practices. Yet, public health education remains far too marginal in the public sphere.
The Cardiovascular Health Action Network (RASC) envisioned a bold and ambitious initiative: producing a feature-length documentary at the forefront of science in preventive healthcare. Its goal? To raise public awareness about the urgency of action — and help foster a global, sustainable health culture.
Conceived as both a human and scientific journey, Why wait? Health within reach is led by Dr. Julie St-Pierre and co-hosted by the charismatic Jean-Marie Lapointe. The story begins with a striking fact: over 80% of non-communicable diseases could be prevented through healthier lifestyle choices.
2 Square Films oversaw every stage of the project — from scripting and research to logistics, production, postproduction, and distribution.
Our team successfully brought together nearly 25 committed and inspiring voices, including Matthieu Ricard, Boris Cyrulnik, Francesco Branca (WHO), Robert Lustig, David Saint-Jacques, Pierre Lavoie, and Frédéric Raymond.
Shot across five countries, the film also showcases some of Québec’s most stunning landscapes — from Saguenay to Inukjuak, via Charlevoix and Manawan. An ambitious production from start to finish, designed to create high-impact video content and reach diverse audiences.
This two-hour documentary, produced in both French and English, fully delivered on its mission: to foster a culture of prevention and encourage a collective rethinking of our relationship with health.
Selected by over seven international film festivals, the film was warmly received by both critics and audiences.
It is now available in full on the website of the Interdisciplinary Chair in Healthy Living, as part of a training program aimed at professionals and students in the health and education sectors.Powerful excerpts have been adapted to enrich the Chair’s 12 educational modules.
The film continues to expand its reach and impact, with a broader public release coming soon via a 90-minute television version airing on ICI Explora.
